American Idol: Top 12 Girls and Guys

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 9:59 am

I have to say I was not super impressed with the girls on Tuesday night.  I really enjoyed Lilly Scott, Crystal Bowersox, Katelyn Epperly and Siobhan Magnus.  I think there were a couple others who are good but just picked a bad song like Didi Benami and Lacey Brown.  However that is only 6 out of the 12 girls, the others I really wasn’t interested in at all.

As for last nights episode with the guys…..I didn’t get to watch it!!! I was gone and my hubby accidentally stopped the recording at the beginning.  So I went on youtube and was able to watch about the first 4, I didn’t care so much for any of them.  I have no idea about the other guys.

So did I hear right,  they are kicking off 2 guys and 2 girls a week for the next three weeks?  Wow that is fast!!

American Idol: 7 of the Top 24

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 11:46 am

Well last night we saw the fate of 9 of the top 50 contestants.

Katelyn Epperly, Michael Lynche, Didi Benami, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Lee DeWyze and Todrick Hall all made it into the top 24.

Shelby Dressel and Jessica Furney did not.  I have to say I was a little dissappointed, I was hoping for Shelby to make it through.

I have read rumors on other sites that Michael Lynche may be disqualified becaue his Dad spilled the beans to a newpaper reporter that his son made it into the top 24.  I guess we will have to wait and see what happens tonight.

I am so glad we are actually getting down to the heart of the show now.  I enjoy it so much more than the auditions and Hollywood.

Can’t wait to see the rest of the top 24 tonight.

Surrogates: Bruce Willis

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 11:35 am

In this futuristic movie the majority of most humans no longer step outside the doors of their homes.  Instead they send their “surrogates” out to live their daily lives.  For the most part the world has become a “better” place.  Disease is down, crime is down….that is until it isn’t!

I totally was enthralled with this movie.  Bruce Willis did not dissappoint!

The Book of Eli: Denzel Washington

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 9:32 am

Hubby and I went to see The Book of Eli Saturday while we were in Paducah for our Anniversary.  I personally didn’t know much about the movie but being an avid Denzel fan I thought it would have to be good.  Anyway, the movie was really really good.  However the violoence I could do without.  I can handle the violence I just hate when they find it necessary to show every detail like blood squirting and heads rolling.  That I just don’t handle well so I did do some eye closing in this movie.

So it is supposed to be like 30 years after the Apocolypse, Eli (Denzel Washington), has in his possession the only King James Bible left on the earth.  God has directed him in a path to get the Bible to a safe place where it can be replicated again.  Many people are after the Bible but not with good intentions.

One thing that I loved about the movie, being a Christian myself, was the fact that they actually portrayed God in a good light.  They did not speak of Jesus, but the God of this very important King James Bible did a lot of miraculous things in the movie.  That was exciting for myself and my hubby.

The movie is a great piece of fiction with an amazing actor,  Denzel was flawless in it.  Just remember it is rated R and there is a quite a bit of violence.

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: Michael Douglas, Amber Tamblyn

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 9:44 am

Last night we decided to rent a movie and eat frozen pizza while the snow came down outside.  Earlier in the day I had went to Redbox and picked up Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.  I vaguely remembered previews and thought it might be interesting.

I was standing outside at Redbox in the freezing cold trying to hurry and just quickly picked this movie. Later when I was telling hubby about it I told him that it had Harrison Ford in it.  I figure most Harrison Ford movies are great.  Except this movie does not have Harrison Ford!!

Michael Douglas - Harrison Ford, same difference right? LOL

The movie started off slow and I imagine it didn’t have a huge budget but once it got going it was quite interesting.  I did enjoy it, not my favorite but it was interesting enough.  Hubby on the other hand wasn’t impressed.  He had it figured out at the very beginning and spoke his thoughts aloud.  Sure enough, he was right!

The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry: Gavin MacLeod and Robert Guillaume

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 6:40 am

One of our local churches did something super cool,  their youth group, paid the money to bring this movie to a local theater.

The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry is a wonderful Christian movie featuring Gaving MacLeod (from the Love Boat), Robert Guillaume (from Benson) and Jansen Panettiere.  It is a sweet story of a group of adolescent boys trying to find their way in life and the one man who helped make a change in them forever.

If you have seen Facing the Giants or Fireproof and loved them, then you will love this movie.  We had the opportunity to go watch it last weekend and we loved it.  Even our 11 and 14 yr old daughters loved it.

This movie will not be playing everywhere.   You can find out about sponsporing it to a local theater near you on their website.  That is what the local youth group here did.

If it does happen to play in your town, I highly recommend going to see it.  It is wholesome and full of good Christian values.  It is rated PG and safe for all audiences to watch.

American Idol Season 9: Do you Like the Guest Judges?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 11:18 am

So far I am enjoying this season of American Idol, I have been really impressed with some of the contestants.  However I cannot wait until we get to Hollywood, it is much more interesting for me at that point.   So I am wondering how you are all liking the guest judges?

I can’t say that I miss Paula because half the time it didn’t seem that she was actually there or had a clue what was going on.  As for the guest judges it seems to me like they are all playing the good cop which was what Paula always did.  I am wondering if this will be the case for all the guest judges.

Also I don’t know that I am super excited for Ellen to be the fourth judge starting Hollywood week.  I think it will turn into a comedy skit for each performance and I don’t really think that fits wit the show.  I guess I will just have to wait and see.

What do you think?

Patti Eliminated on Biggest Loser

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 10:28 am

I stayed up late night before last to get caught up on the new season of the Biggest Loser.  I wasn’t to surprised that once again this season has the a group of the largest people every with several right at 500!  Wow, Bob and Jillian really have their work cut out for them.

This year we are back to couples.  In the first episode to sets of couple we sent home directly after the cycling challenge.  They will be competing at home to lose weight and will be brought back in 30 days (I think they said 30 days) and the team that has lost the most will get to stay on the show.

At the end of episode 1, James, one of the Brown Team twins had been eliminated.

Episode 2 they had a balance beam challenge that the White team did not complete.  Maria had a fear of water and ended up falling and hurting herself and had to go to the hospital in an ambulance.  Afterward Jillian worked with her on her fear of water and made some breakthroughs with her.

The Red team won immunity in that competition and decided it was time to start playing the game.  Mellisa actually gained 1lb this week in order to better her chances next week.

The Purple team went below the yellow line and Patti sacrificed herself for her daughter and was eliminated.

As for episode 3 I haven’t watched it yet.  I record Biggest Loser on Friday night on FLN instead of their Tuesday night slot becuase Tuesday is usually a big night for my DVR.

Human Target

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 11:41 pm

Tonight was the pilot episode of Human Target.  The show is airing on Fox and it will move to it’s new time slot on Wednesday the 20th at 9pm.

The main character is a P.I./Bodyguard type who becomes a Human Target for customers who have had death threats.  Hubby and I really enjoyed the first episode.  It was full of action and intrigue, not to mention a little humor thrown in.  The one thing that hubby didn’t like was the music for the opening of the show.  He said it didn’t fit at all.  Look forward to seeing the new episode on Wednesday.

Time Flies When you are Super Busy

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amber @ 11:29 pm

I seriously cannot believe it has been almost 2 weeks since I have posted here.  I am sooo behind on t.v. watching.  Life has been crazy, we had a family emergency that took up several days of my existence last week.  Also I have been participating in reading the Bible in 90 Days which is taking about an extra hour everyday.  So what extra time I do have has been spent on my main blog and not here and not watching television.

I did get to zoom through the first 2 episodes of American idol and it looks like the season is going to be good.  I will blog more in depth about Idol this week.  I am also recording a new show, Human Target.  Are any of you watching it?

This week should be calmer.  At least I hope.
